The new Toyota Tundra Hybrid is coming

When the second-generation Toyota Tundra was unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show in 2007, a Hybrid version was announced on stage. Unfortunately, this never happened. Speed forward to 2021 and this time, as a totally new redesigned and reengineered version of the full-sized pick-up was unveiled, the idea of a hybrid version came back on stage.

For the first time, the Toyota Tundra range will soon include a Hybrid version. The electrified variant will use a new i-Force Max powertrain that combines a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 gasoline engine with an electric motor. The hybrid powertrain is expected to produce 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission will transmit the power to the wheels. The electric motor draws its supply from a 288-volt Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) battery hidden under the rear passenger seats.
