Aston Martin Rapide E Revealed in Shanghai
Aston Martin revealed it’s ultra-exclusive Rapide E super-sedan at the Shanghai auto show. Only 155 examples of the Rapide E will be built, and pricing information has not yet been released.
The Rapide E utilizes 800-volt electrical architecture like the Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT. The 65-kWh battery pack is installed where the engine block, gearbox, and fuel tank are normally. The vehicle has 5,600 lithium-ion cells in the same cylindrical 18650 format used by Tesla in the Model S and Model X.
The Rapide E reaches a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h) and can accelerate to 60 mph (96 km/h) in less than 4.0 seconds. Performance is the focus with a limited range of approximately 200 miles (322 km) by European standards.
