SHELL PLANS TO OFFER MORE ELECTRIC CHARGING STATIONS
By Éric Descarries
Oil company Shell has just announced plans to eliminate many of its gas stations and focus increasingly on electric charging. This is what the company published in its 2024 Energy Transition Strategy report via Yahoo! Finance. And it includes the plan to “divest some 500 Shell-owned sites per year in 2024 and 2025.”
Shell administered around 47,000 sites in 2023. The company says it wants to grow from 54,000 to 200,000 individual sites by 2030, especially in Europe and China, where it believes the electric vehicle market is more mature.
