FERRARI’S FUTURISTIC JOYSTICK STEERING

Ferrari introduces an innovative steering system with dual joysticks in a recent patent application. Positioned on each side of the driver’s seat, the joysticks allow synchronized control over direction and yaw angle. Filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office, the system integrates traditional pedals or joystick-mounted buttons for acceleration and braking. Ferrari emphasizes technical feasibility while distancing itself from the prevalent steering yoke trend, favouring the joystick concept. In contrast, Lexus advances with a steer-by-wire system featuring a yoke, set to debut in the upcoming Lexus RZ450e models. Ferrari’s joystick innovation holds promise, yet its incorporation into production vehicles remains uncertain.
