GM JOINS COVESA

By Anne Bourgoin

GM has joined the Connected Vehicle Systems Alliance (COVESA) with a view to standardizing automotive software and technology systems. All automakers will be able to use and make available to buyers a wider range of technologies, while reducing costs. COVESA will help coordinate this standardization with other companies across the industry.

As a member, GM will make its uServices interface and programming model available to vehicle software developers. “uServices is an excellent addition to the growing set of open source solutions hosted by COVESA and made available for enhancement and adoption by a growing number of players in the automotive industry,” said Steve Crumb, Executive Director of COVESA.
