FORD TO OFFER TWO TYPES OF BATTERIES
By Éric Descarries
The American manufacturer Ford will offer two types of batteries to its customers who want to buy an electric vehicle. Drivers interested in a Mustang Mach-E or a Ford F-150 Lightning pickup will be able to choose between the traditional nickel-cobalt-manganese battery or a new lithium-ion-phosphate battery, more affordable but more durable, which requires less time to recharge than the nickel-cobalt-manganese battery, making it sufficient for drivers who only think they will be using their vehicles for short distances or for commercial users with predefined routes. Ford will offer nickel-cobalt-manganese batteries to those who plan to drive longer distances or pull heavier trailers.
