HYDROGEN IN A PASTE IS SET TO REVOLUTIONIZE TRANSPORTATION
By Anne Bourgoin
German researchers at the Fraunhofer Research Institute are studying the possibility of making hydrogen transportable and storable without risk, which could revolutionize the green car industry.
Hydrogen-powered gasoline vehicles are currently shunned by the general public, and for good reason. Not only are they very expensive to buy, but they are also difficult to obtain, not to mention their high degree of flammability.
Fraunhofer researchers are working on a solution that would provide hydrogen in the form of a paste that can store and transport hydrogen safely. In addition to making it safe, the cost of hydrogen would drop dramatically, making hydrogen-powered gasoline vehicles affordable. As for the supply, it would be no more complicated than filling a tank with water and the necessary amount of paste.
This famous paste could create 10 times more energy than a lithium-ion battery at equivalent weight according to the researchers.
