GOODYEAR OFFERS A 90% RECYCLABLE TIRE
By Éric Descarries
Although it is not yet destined for production, American manufacturer Goodyear has just unveiled a new 90% recyclable tire that can also help reduce fuel consumption. Its prototype version has already passed all the company’s internal tests, demonstrating at the same time, a much lower friction resistance than a conventional tire. It would therefore also be an ideal tire for electric vehicles.
According to Goodyear, this tire would have required 17 major ingredients, 12 of which (including rice, soy and pine) would be recyclable or would have a lesser environmental impact than those currently used for the production of tires. Note that this latest prototype is already a great evolution on the one presented by the same manufacturer last year which was then recyclable at “only” 70%.
