GM OPENS ITS FIRST EV PLANT IN ONTARIO
General Motors Canada (GM) and the Ontario government have just announced the opening of the first electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant in Ontario and the launch of the first models assembled in this plant: the BrightDrop Zevo 600.
This is GM’s first EV production facility of its kind in Canada. It is poised to become the hub for GM Canada’s new commercial electric vehicles.
“Whether it’s our critical minerals in the north or our manufacturing excellence in the south, Ontario has all the advantages we need to continue to strengthen our position as a global automotive leader for years to come,” said Ontario Premier Doug Ford.
Over the past two years, Ontario has attracted $16 billion in investment in the automotive and EV battery manufacturing sector.
