Laserax, a Québec City-based company, offers automated laser solutions for manufacturers. Now, Its lasers clean electric car batteries, an extremely profitable field. In five years, Laserax has increased its sales tenfold. And its president is aiming for a hundred million dollars by 2026.

Northvolt, a supplier of batteries to Volvo and BMW, has just chosen Laserax to improve its performance in welding, another promising market. “Cleaning and welding batteries is a bottleneck in the production line. Our system is ultra fast. The Swedes looked around the world and told us they wanted to work with us,” explained its president, Xavier Godmaire, in an interview.

With one machine, Laserax can offer three different options depending on the customer’s needs: cleaning batteries, welding and engraving (laser marking of metals).
