ELECTRIC VEHICLES ARE THE FIRST CHOICE OF MORE THAN HALF OF THE WORLD’S BUYERS
A recent EY Knowledge Analysis report on the Consumer Mobility Index shows that 52% of respondents want to buy an electric vehicle (EV). The survey, conducted last May, involved 13,000 individuals in eighteen countries. This is the first time that the number of buyers who wish to purchase an EV has surpassed the milestone of 50% and represents a growth of 22 points in two years.
Italians (73%), Chinese (69%) and South Koreans (63%) are the most likely to invest in an EV. Canadians are at 46%. The most reluctant seem to be Australians at 38% and Americans at 29%. The main motivation remains the environmental issue, although increased penalties on ICE vehicles are appearing for the first time as a major consumer concern.
