Here’s what makes ZEV mandates work

Published last week, EMC authored an opinion piece for the Globe & Mail titled Here’s what makes ZEV mandates work. In it, we outline the definition of a ZEV mandate, and how a ZEV mandate will work in Canada’s auto sector by underlining that “Canadian dealers will not be forced to sell EVs if they do not want to, and Canadian consumers will not be forced to buy an EV if they do not want to. The ZEV mandate will only enhance car buyers’ freedom of choice by ensuring that EVs are an available option, which is hardly the case now as waiting lists for most EVs range from six months to three years.”

The article goes on to list reasons on why Canada needs to adopt a ZEV mandate, and provides specific examples that support the argument.

Notice of Annual General Meeting and Call for Nominations

Please note that the annual meeting of the members of EMC will be held by virtual meeting on the 7th day of June, 2022 at the hour of 1:00pm-3:00pm Eastern. Members can expect detailed information to follow in the coming weeks.

The Call for EMC Board Nominations have officially opened. EMC voting members can submit their votes prior to May 24th at noon Eastern.

Electric and Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle Show – Quebec, QC

The Electric and Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle Show will be held at Centre des foires de Québec from May 13-15. The show will include displays of over 30 vehicles, many of which will be available for test drives.
