Rivian R1T: Green Car Reports’ Best Car finalist

It comes as no surprise to see an electric pick-up truck as a finalist of the well known Green Car Reports publication since pick-up trucks are the most popular type of vehicles in North American. But the Rivian R1T and not another popular brand?

The Rivian doesn’t defy convention like the Tesla Cybertruck. It also promotes clean outdoorsy adventure with quietness and no tailpipe emission. Green Car Reports also appreciates the Rivian’s  11,000-lb tow rating and a 0-100 kmh acceleration time of around three seconds. Keep in mind the four-motor propulsion system (the first yet in any production EV) that develops a total of more than 800 horsepower and more than 900 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the R1T offers great off-road capabilities with up to 38 centimeters of ground clearance. That should be enough to understand Green Car Reports’ choice of the R1T as a finalist to its «contest» !
