More Details on GM’s Electric Truck
General Motors president Mark Reuss confirmed that the company’s all-electric pickup will be based on the shared BEV3 platform. The platform is designed to accept a variety of body styles and is expected to debut in a new Cadillac SUV around 2023. This means GM’s electric truck wouldn’t be available until 2023 or 2024.
GM seems to be playing catch-up with other electric truck makers such as Rivian, Tesla, and Ford. Rivian has revealed an all-electric pickup to go on sale in 2021 with 644 km of range. Ford announced an all-electric F-150 several months ago and bought a $500 million stake in Rivian. Tesla CEO Elon Musk teased that Tesla’s pickup would sell for less than $67,000 CAD.
