Apple Poaches Another Telsa Executive

Apple has brought on Tesla’s head of powertrains, Michael Schwekutsch. He was previously a vice president of engineering at Tesla. His move to Apple has fueled fresh rumours of a physical Apple car. The company hired away  Andrew Kim, an ex-Tesla senior designer, in December.

Apple has not released any information regarding the hires. Schwekutsch is reportedly part of Apple’s Project Titan team. The team was once responsible for a physical Apple car but shifted strategies years ago to only focus on self-driving systems.

The Project Titan team reportedly underwent a major restructuring in January following the hiring of Doug Field, former vice president of engineering at Tesla. These high-profile hires are a strong indication that Apple is working on a physical car. Apple has given no indication when it will be ready to share news from the team’s efforts.
