GM’S SUPER CRUISE NOW IN TOWING MODE
By Anne Bourgoin
General Motors has added a new exclusive function to its Super Cruise system. It is now possible to tow several types of trailer in Canada. This feature will be installed on a dozen of the brand’s vehicles, including the Escalade, Suburban and Sierra. Some 2024 models already include this feature.
To use the towing option, the driver must be on a highway divided and pre-mapped by GM. More than 12,000 kilometres of additional roads in Canada and the USA, including secondary highways, are currently being added to the Super Cruise system.
Super Cruise works in exactly the same way, except that lane changes cannot be made without touching the steering wheel, as this would require manual configuration of the trailer dimensions. A miscalculation could result in the system becoming ineffective.
