NISSAN LEAF AND FERMATA ENERGY: A BIDIRECTIONAL REVOLUTION
Nissan approves the Fermata Energy FE-20 bidirectional charger for use on the Nissan LEAF, the only all-electric vehicle in the USA able to supply power to the grid. The FE-20, which complies with UL and CHAdeMO standards, can either recharge the vehicle’s battery or send power back to the grid, helping to lower energy costs. In a pilot test with V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) technology, the FE-20’s predecessor (the FE-15) led to more than US $9,450 in electricity savings over four years.
The FE-20 offers 33 % more power for a lower retail cost, thus facilitating access to Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology for Nissan dealers and fleets. The use of this system does not affect the vehicle’s warranty.
