THE HONDA CIVIC HYBRID POISED TO CONQUER THE CANADIAN MARKET
Last June, Honda of Canada Mfg. began manufacturing the 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid at its plant in Alliston, Ontario. This initiative is part of the automaker’s electrification strategy, which aims for the Civic Hybrid to account for 60 % of the model’s sales in Canada. The plant has been modernized thanks to a $1.38 billion investment, reinforcing its key role in North America for the production of hybrid vehicles.
Jean-Marc Leclerc, CEO of Honda Canada, stresses the importance of this step towards its goal of offering a fully electrified portfolio in Canada and the U.S. by 2040. The Japanese brand also plans to establish a complete value chain for electric vehicles (EVs) in the country, including the construction of new plants in Alliston. EV production will start in 2028, with an annual capacity of 240,000 units and 36 GWh of batteries, creating over 1,000 new jobs.
