BYD ANNOUNCES A HYBRID ENGINE WITH A RANGE OF 2100 KM

By Anne Bourgoin

Chinese carmaker BYD (Build Your Dream) launches two new plug-in hybrid cars with a range of over 2,000 km. The Qin L and Seal 06 are equipped with the automaker’s fifth-generation Dual Mode hybrid technology.

BYD claims a range of up to 2100 km on a full tank of fuel and a full battery charge. The company points out that petrol consumption does not exceed 2.9 litres per 100 km, adding a further 79 km to 119 km in electric mode, depending on the battery model chosen. Consumption management is based on artificial intelligence to optimize energy efficiency.

It should be noted that the range is based on the CLTC (China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle) homologation standard, which is considered more optimistic (between 15% and 25% more) than the WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light-Duty Vehicles Test Procedure).
