LITHION— A NEW PLANT AND A MAJOR ALLY FOR QUÉBEC’S BATTERY INDUSTRY
By Piero Facchin
The battery industry in Québec has a major new ally: Lithion, which specializes in the recycling of lithium-ion batteries, has just settled in Saint-Bruno, on the south shore of Montréal. Benoît Couture, Lithion’s President and CEO, is particularly proud of this achievement.
This plant is the first of several to come that will make it possible to realize Lithion’s vision of supplying the world with the greenest batteries available. In the U.S., the opening of the first storage centre is planned in the near future, and Lithion is in discussions with strategic partners to set up plants like Lithion Saint-Bruno.
Drawing on its expertise in cross-border transport and logistics, Lithion will supply its plants while offering its partners a turnkey service, solving a complex and costly aspect of lithium-ion battery recycling for them.
To create battery material circularity, Lithion has developed a two stage recycling process with a drastically lower environmental impact than mining.
Above all, Lithion is about passionate people working together for a truly sustainable energy transition.
