GREEN HYDROGEN BY ELECTROLYSIS OF DESALINATED SEAWATER
By Anne Bourgoin
TE H2 and VERBUND have just signed a memorandum of understanding with the Republic of Tunisia for the potential implementation of the H2 Notos project, which aims to produce green hydrogen by electrolysis of desalinated seawater in southern Tunisia.
H2 Notos has the ambition of producing 200,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually during the initial phase, with a target of 1 million tonnes afterwards. All of this will be delivered to the European market via a pipeline linking North Africa with Italy, Austria and Germany.
TE H2, a joint venture of TotalEnergies and the Eren Group, and Austrian electricity leader Verbund will develop this integrated project, from development to operation, financing and construction, including the production of green electricity and green hydrogen.
