HYUNDAI FOCUSES ON HYBRIDS
By Anne Bourgoin
The Korean automaker has just announced that, in addition to staying the course on electric vehicles, it will be expanding the manufacture of hybrid models. A new assembly line will be added to its plant in Georgia, USA, which produces its electric models.
The decision was taken following financial results for the first quarter of 2024, which showed a drop in EV sales in the USA and South Korea, but also an increase in worldwide demand for hybrids.
The company has not yet specified which models will come out of its US plant. They could be either existing vehicles or new vehicles with hybrid powertrains.
