Valérie Mallamo appointed Executive Director of Earth Day Canada

Earth Day Canada is pleased to welcome Valérie Mallamo as the organization’s new Executive Director to help expand the organization across Canada and support the deployment of new environmental programs.

A wealth of experience in management and the environment

With 25 years of solid management experience and a keen interest in environmental issues, Valerie brings to the organization a balance of consulting and business development skills as well as a keen understanding of the dynamics of running a non-profit organization.

After studying at McGill University, Valerie honed her skills in team management, operations optimization, and strategic development with large national organizations. She held positions as an account manager and then as a director of client services. She then reoriented herself towards the environment and completed a master’s degree in the field. Valérie became the general manager of an environmental company facilitating the implementation of water and energy-saving products for residential customers, municipalities, and social housing managers in partnership with Hydro-Québec. At the same time, she has been involved for more than 20 years in the LGBT+ Family Coalition, of which she currently co-chairs the board of directors.

Strengthened in her ecological commitment throughout her career, Valérie seized the opportunity to join Earth Day Canada to take up the pressing challenge of mobilizing the greatest possible number of actors in society to make the ecological shift. Since her arrival, Valérie has been working to develop the Action Réduction waste management support program for municipalities across Canada.

New priorities for Pierre Lussier

Pierre Lussier, who has led the organization since its inception, retains his title as president of Earth Day Canada and will now focus on the development of the RechargÉco network of fast-charging stations. He will use his visionary skills to expand this ambitious project to facilitate the transition to electric cars and will continue to bring his experience to Earth Day celebrations.

“The choice to join Earth Day was so easy. It’s a great opportunity to use all of my work experience and personal interests for the good of an organization that is critical to the sustainable shift in our society. The team is great, both in terms of employees and our Board of Directors. The projects and partners are impressive. I am confident that together we can increase the positive impact of the organization across the country.

– Valerie Mallamo, Executive Director of Earth Day Canada

“Valerie’s arrival at our organization gives me great hope for the future of Earth Day Canada. With her, we will be able to deploy many innovative projects to support the environmental action of all actors of society across Canada and continue to mobilize municipalities, organizations, and citizens to take the train of the ecological transition!

– Pierre Lussier, President of Earth Day Canada

“As Chair of the Board of Directors of Earth Day Canada, I am very excited to welcome Valérie Mallamo to our organization. Her diverse experience and energetic personality are undeniable assets to support the organization in its pan-Canadian development and ensure its long-term sustainability.”

– Thomas Mulcair, Chair of Earth Day Canada’s Board of Directors
