BC’s new budget for ZEV incentives

According to the Canadian Press, British Columbia has a new budget that includes an additional $94M to ZEV incentives and rebates. And that may allow a customer to save as much as $8,000 when purchasing a ZEV. Add to that funding for charging stations and more money to support commercialization of medium and heavy-duty vehicles.

Last week, the province has added some $94 million to its 2021 budget for the Go Electric Program that will go through 2024. This program includes financial rebates to customers who will  buy zero-emission vehicles or charging stations. Included is the funding to support commercialization of medium and heavy-duty vehicles. All that money is added to the $40 million the province invested in 2020-21. The Go Electric Program supports the province in meeting its 2025 mandate which is to have at least 10 per cent of new light-duty vehicles sold in B.C. to be zero emission vehicles.
