Québecor becomes a partner of Propulsion Québec

Propulsion Québec, the Electric and Intelligent Transportation (EIT) cluster, announced a new partnership with Québecor, a Canadian leader in telecommunications, media and entertainment. According to the associations, this three-year partnership will enable Québecor to strengthen its involvement in the development of the electric and intelligent transportation ecosystem, and will also enable Propulsion Québec to support the company in its plan to electrify its fleet of vehicles.

A member of the cluster since January 2020, Québecor announced this year its action plan to accelerate the electrification of its entire fleet of more than 1,000 vehicles, which already includes nearly 40 electric cars. This plan will focus on converting the gasoline engines of its light trucks to electric motors and on the purchase of electric cars.

This strategic partnership makes Quebecor a prime contributor to the 2nd edition of IMPULSION MTL, an international forum on fleet management organized by Propulsion Québec and to be launched on October 27. Between now and 2023, Quebecor will work closely with the electric and intelligent vehicle cluster on various study projects and activities to mobilize this ecosystem.

Sarah Houde, President and CEO of Propulsion Québec, said: “Propulsion Québec is very proud to welcome a new partner like Québecor, a Quebec flagship that has made the fight against climate change one of its priorities, thus contributing to the effort to revive the Quebec economy in these uncertain times. The timing is more than well chosen to reiterate its support for our cluster at a time when government, economic and environmental leaders are making electrification a key vector of recovery for a greener, fairer and more prosperous society and economy.”

Pierre Karl Péladeau, President and Chief Executive Officer of Quebecor, added that “Quebecor is proud to be associated with Propulsion Québec, a key partner with whom we will continue our commitment to the fight against climate change and participate in Quebec’s energy transition to a sustainable economy… It is therefore with great pride that we are now accelerating our ambitious transportation electrification plan by relying on hydroelectricity to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.”
