GOODYEAR INVESTS HEAVILY IN ONTARIO
Goodyear Canada is investing over $575 million to modernize and expand its plant in Napanee, Ontario. The project is also supported by the federal and provincial governments, to the tune of $44.3 million and $20 million respectively. It will create 200 new specialized jobs by 2027, in addition to securing 1,000 existing positions. The aim is to increase production of tires for electric and off-road vehicles, while reducing the plant’s emissions to zero by 2040. This initiative is part of a series of major investments in the EV sector in Canada, reinforcing the country’s role as a world leader. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Ontario Premier Doug Ford welcomed the announcement, underlining the importance of the transition to a green economy. Goodyear thus confirms its commitment to innovation and the environment, while stimulating the local economy and attracting new international investment.
