INNOVATIVE, FUTURISTIC MATERIALS
By Marc Bardiaux
New materials are making their appearance in the automotive industry. Carbon fibre, aluminum composite alloys and high-strength steels now occupy pride of place. All of them offer interesting features, such as lighter weight and greater robustness. Electric cars also call for the addition of special components, such as the thermoplastic composites used for battery containers. Some components currently under study are even more astonishing. Tomato skins, for example, are used to create a bio-lacquer which, among other things, is used to manufacture suspension bushes.
The future of the automotive industry is looking brighter than ever, more dynamic and innovative, bringing its share of surprises to our daily lives
