HONDA SET TO ANNOUNCE NEW EVE AND BATTERY PLANTS IN ONTARIO

By Éric Descarries

If the predictions made by Sam Fiorani, Vice-President of Forecasting at AutoForecast Solutions (AFS), to Automotive News Canada on March 20 are anything to go by, Japanese automaker Honda is about to announce the construction of a new electric vehicle and battery production plant in Canada. Obviously, the chosen location will be Alliston, Ontario, where Honda already has an impressive plant. These predictions are based on those of the major global financial publication Nikkei.

According to the same report, Honda plans to invest some US$14 billion (C$18,942,700,000), while the first vehicle to be produced there will be a replacement for a well-known gasoline model. Fiorani’s forecast comes shortly after Ontario Premier Doug Ford himself announced that he expected tens of billions of dollars in automotive investment in Ontario.
