VOLKSWAGEN INTEGRATES CHATGPT INTO ITS VEHICLES

By Éric Descarries

German automaker Volkswagen has chosen the spectacular CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas to unveil its latest technology, the integration of the ChatGPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) conversational robot into its current MEB and MQB platform models.

This ChatGPT (Cerence Chat Pro) from Cerence Inc. will be combined with VW’s IDA voice recognition system, enabling users to benefit from several new possibilities that go beyond simple voice recognition. The system will be able to operate infotainment, navigation and even climate controls, or simply answer questions. Of course, it will be artificial intelligence (AI) that will assist ChatGPT to provide more information, which VW believes could become useful while driving by enriching conversations, correcting questions, clarifying language, or even adapting vehicle-specific information without interfering with personal data, all hands-free!
