TOYO LAUNCHES A NEW OPEN COUNTRY FOR EVs
By Éric Descarries
Japanese manufacturer Toyo Tires has just announced the forthcoming arrival of a new version (the third) of its popular Open Country A/T tire, specifically designed as a replacement tire for most pickup trucks and SUVs, including electric versions of these vehicles.
Obviously, we’re talking here about the result of serious studies into reducing the rolling resistance of the manufacturer’s AeroWing sidewalls, an advanced tread compound and a tread pattern designed to better meet the requirements of such (electric) vehicles, including rapid acceleration, greater weight and range efficiency. Added to this is the identification on the sidewalls of the mountain silhouette with snowflake in its centre, allowing the tires to remain on the vehicle in both winter and summer.
Toyo plans to bring this new tire to market as early as February 2024, while other sizes than those initially planned will be announced at a later date.
