A PRICE CUTS ON FORD’S F-150 LIGHTNING

By Éric Descarries

Ford has just announced a significant price reduction for its F-150 Lightning electric pick-up truck. While one might think that this decision was made after a price cut at Tesla (who is about to commercialize its own pick-up truck), Ford executives maintain instead that it is the result of improvements made at its Michigan plant as well as several other factors, including a reduction in the cost of battery materials, and an increase in production.

Announcement of these new prices is expected as early as October (at a level similar to the prices announced when the Lightning was launched in May 2021). At the same time, experts also believe that Ford is looking to increase production of this unique vehicle to 150,000 units at its Rouge Electric Vehicle Center plant in Dearborn, Michigan.
