TOYOTA UNVEILS ITS GR010 RACE CAR
By Éric Descarries
Japanese giant Toyota recently unveiled the GR010 version of its race car involved in the World Endurance Championship. Similar to the model that won last year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, this latest version has only a few aerodynamic tweaks, but in other respects, this hybrid-electric vehicle now has better brake cooling (its Achilles heel in the past) while its weight has been reduced to the point of approaching the 1,040-kilogram limit (for all-wheel drive vehicles).
Toyota’s car will eventually have to compete with other hybrids in the same class (LMH), including the new Porsche from Penske and the factory Cadillac.
