3% INCREASE IN ELECTRIC CIRCUIT RATES

By Isabelle Havasy, January 30, 2023

As it does at the beginning of each year, the Electric Circuit is announcing an increase in its rates at fast-charging stations in accordance with the Government of Quebec’s Regulation respecting rates for the use of the public fast charging service for electric vehicles. The 3% rise, which will come into effect on February 1, 2023, affects 24 kW, 50 kW and 100 kW+ charging stations, which are billed by the second, starting when the vehicle is plugged in and ending when it is unplugged.

As a result, the hourly rate for 24 kW charging stations will increase to $7.53 per hour, while the rate for 50 kW charging stations will rise to $12.77 per hour. From that point on, the rate also augmented depending on the level of charge of the battery. When it exceeds 90 percent, it jumps to $25.52, “to free up the charging stations for other users more quickly and to prevent them from being monopolized for full charges,” according to the Electric Circuit’s website.

At 100 kW charging stations, the hourly rate varies between $15.73 and $36.87 depending on the power provided by the station and reaches $31.45 when the battery charge level surpasses 90%. Recharges at charging stations above 100 kW will be billed at an hourly rate of $36.87, regardless of the battery’s charge level.
