POLESTAR LIFTS THE VEIL ON ITS FIRST SUV

On October 12, Polestar unveiled the Polestar 3, the first SUV from Volvo’s electric performance division. The automaker plans to manufacture its SUV on two continents. Volvo’s plant in China will kick off production in mid-2023, while the Ridgeville, South Carolina plant will follow suit a year later.

Despite its sleek, minimalist silhouette, the Polestar 3 makes a statement with its aerodynamic profile and lighting signature defined by dual-blade LED headlights. Under the seal of eco-responsibility and traceability, Polestar makes sure to dress the interior of its SUV with certified materials, in order to reduce its carbon footprint.

Developed in partnership with Google, the integrated Andoid Auto OS system is accessible via a 14.5-inch screen on the dashboard.

The Polestar 3 sports a 111 kWh battery that distributes its power to a pair of motors. The Long-range Dual motor version delivers 489 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque for an estimated range of 482 km. The Performance Package boosts horsepower and torque to 517 and 671 lb ft, but range drops to 434 km, according to preliminary EPA data.

Packed with advanced technology, the Polestar 3 includes a full complement of standard equipment to simplify production logistics and speed delivery.

The Polestar 3 has a starting price of $99,900. To get the Performance Package, you’ll have to pay an additional $7,000. Reservations for the Polestar 3 are now open online.
