ELECTRIC RAM PUSHES AWAY THE ECODIESEL

Stellantis just announced that its 3.0-litre EcoDiesel V6 will soon be eliminated from its Ram pick-up catalogue. Indeed, as the very popular full-size pick-up will be available with an electric powertrain in 2024, the manufacturer chose to terminate the diesel option. Yet, it will still be in the 2023 model year option catalogue. The 2023 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel will be available in Crew Cab 4 × 4 models in Tradesman, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Limited Longhorn and Limited models.

As Ram will be removing the EcoDiesel option going toward electrification, it will still be offering the big diesel Cummins engine in its 2023 Ram Heavy-Duty trucks. Ram already offers some mild hybrid and e-torque powertrains yet it is planning to go all the way into electrification. Starting with Ram and following with the Promaster van, the brand also plans to have a full line-up of electrified solutions for most of its segments by 2025 and in all segments by 2030.
