UBER-HERTZ/TESLA AGREEMENT EXPANDED TO CANADA
In mid-July, Uber announced the inclusion of Quebec and Canada in its partnership with Hertz. The company, who wishes to accelerate the use of electric vehicles, will offer its drivers in the cities of Montréal, Toronto and Vancouver, the possibility to rent a Tesla by the week starting this summer.
“Having access to EVs for drivers is an important piece of Uber’s electrification goals,” said Jonathan Hamel, public affairs manager for Uber in Quebec. “This partnership will allow them to try out an electric vehicle for urban carpooling and discover the associated benefits, including cost.” In a recent survey conducted across the country, 71% of drivers registered on the platform mentioned their interest in switching to this mode of transportation.
In addition to the savings on gas costs, drivers will also earn extra revenue. For every ride they take with a EV, they will receive an additional $1 thanks to the incentives set up by Uber.
