THE VISION EQXX, THE FUTURE OF ELECTRIC CARS FROM MERCEDES-BENZ

Developed in the space of 18 months, the EQXX sedan paves the way for future Mercedes-Benz vehicles. With this concept, the German manufacturer called upon its multiple divisions, including the Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 team. It has redesigned each element to maximize efficiency, using lightweight and environmentally friendly materials to “go further with less”. With a coefficient of drag of 0.17, the VISION EQXX is the most aerodynamic car in the world and has an estimated range of over 1,000 km. Its battery, which is close to 100 kWh, borrows some components from the EQS, but with half the volume and 30 percent less weight. Its 150 kW (201 horsepower) motor promises an average consumption of 10 kWh/100 km and a 95% energy use efficiency, outperforming conventional electric cars by 20%. Solar panels on the roof lighten the small battery and power auxiliary accessories such as lights and the infotainment system. Fully closed rims adorn the 20-inch wheels equipped with Bridgestone Turanza Eco tires. Mercedes plans to invest nearly $45.3 billion in the development of electrification between 2022 and 2030 in order to offer a fully electrified lineup by 2030. The VISION EQXX gives us a taste of what the manufacturer has in store for the years to come!
