New York police chooses the Mustang Mach-E

New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) just announced that the the city plans to order 184 of the Ford Mustang Mach E electric crossovers for law enforcement and emergency response use. These first police-spec vehicles are scheduled to be on the street by the second half of 2022. Also note that some taxi companies operating in New York have already started using their own verson of the Mustang. Obviously, the cars are… yellow (just like some of the Tesla also in use)!

DCAS said the Mustang Mach-E GT it chose for its police cruisers should come with 480 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque and should have an EPA-rated 435 kilometers of range. Some 29 fast chargers will be installed for use only by the New York Police Department. They are to be added to some 103 fast chargers for public use. They will be part of some 275 fast chargers projected for 2022.
