Toyota still gambling on hydrogen

Even if the Japanese automaker has already announced major plans to convert its auto production to EVs, Toyota is still gambling on hydrogen technology in vehicles, according to some industry analysts. Indeed, as GlobalData, a data and analytics company see it, Toyota is looking at becoming a carbon-neutral company thanks to both fuel-cell EVs and hydrogen-powered engines.

Recently, Toyota, Kawasaki, Subaru, Mazda, and Yamaha have announced teaming up on production, transportation and use of hydrogen, a carbon-neutral fuel for future vehicles. Toyota already has a hydrogen-powered engine vehicle under development. It recently debuted at a racing event in Japan. Though seen as overhyped by other manufacturers, Toyota still is looking more confident about the future of hydrogen to replace fuel in vehicles thanks to its technological advances in the system.
