GM looking to build EV battery plant in Lansing area

According to the Detroit Free Press, General Motors should be building a new EV battery plant in Lansing, Michigan. The same report indicates the major manufacturer would renovate its existing Orion Assembly plant as it continues to switch completely over to EVs by 2035. No formal announcement came from GM but the Detroit Free Press indicates that “city records, a statement from the mayor and a source familiar with company plans” all suggest that the automaker is looking in that area. At the same time, a reliable source, who wants to remain anonymous, also said the company plans wants to convert its Orion Assembly facility in Orion Township to be its next Ultium EV plant.
