FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ALLOCATES $3.95 MILLION TO SHELL FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF 79 FAST CHARGING STATIONS

According to Electric Autonomy, Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) has awarded C$3.95 million in funding to Shell for “the construction of 79 electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging stations in five Canadian provinces.” The 36 facilities will be deployed in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. The NRCan EV and Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Deployment Initiative report does not specify, however, whether these locations “include Shell’s overall plans for its network under this program, or whether they are simply sites for which public funding is being offered.” The company had announced last February, “its intention to build up to 500,000 electric vehicle charging stations in North America by 2025.”
