Stellantis unveils details of its $229M plant investment
Stellantis recently announced it would invest into its plant to support the retooling for electrification. Yet, some details were missing. But now, we know that part of the $35B total for 2025 budget will go to the retooling of its three Kokoma, Indiana plants to produce its fourth generation eight-speed transmission, a unit that would help the company reach its goal of producing 40% low-emission vehicles by 2030. This new transmission will be flexible enough to be combined with internal combustion engines, as well as mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid propulsion systems, for such vehicles as the Jeep, Ram, Chrysler and Dodge brands. The company announces it will deliver improved fuel economy, provide pure-electric range, and help vehicles meet future emission regulations.
