Hertz orders 100,000 Tesla vehicles for 2022

Even if this world renown car rental giant filed for bankruptcy protection last year as travel demand sank during the height of the pandemic, Hertz is looking at a revival with the help of electric vehicles. Consequently, the company recently announced it had ordered 100,000 Tesla Inc. cars for delivery by the end of 2022. Hertz is looking at becoming the largest EV rental fleet in North America.

Hertz will begin by offering Tesla Model 3s to its customers as it intends to install its own charging stations in North America and Europe. Hertz was recently rescued by a group of investors including Knighthead Capital Management, Certares Opportunities and Apollo Capital Management. Earlier this month, Hertz named former Ford Chief Mark Fields as interim CEO.
