A TASTE OF THE 2023 MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER
In a press release issued on October 14, Mitsubishi revealed the first photos of the late Outlander plug-in hybrid for the 2023 model year. The full unveiling will take place on October 28, but consumers will have to wait until the second quarter of 2022 before they can see it in showrooms across North America.
The new generation, which shares the same platform as the combustion engine-powered Outlander models, will also resemble its counterpart in exterior and interior design. Beside snow, mud and rutting modes, the brand-new plug-in hybrid will feature hill descent control, focused more on off-road performance. The Japanese manufacturer has not yet revealed details about the combustion engine, battery power and range, except that they would be upgraded compared to the current version. The 2022 model is powered by a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that develops 126 horsepower and has two electric motors placed on the front and rear axles that add 80 and 94 horsepower respectively. Its 13.8 kWh battery offers a range of 39 km in electric mode.
