eBeam : Magna’s solution to electric pick-ups

Magna International is a Canadian-based supplier to the automotive industry that is also working on solutions for electric vehicles. One of its most recent announcements is its eBeam prototype. eBeam is an electric axle drive system that can be easily adapted into existing vehicles. By its design, the eBeam can replace a traditional transmission and the rear axle in a ladder frame chassis. The existing brakes, suspension, and chassis itself can stay as they are. What’s most impressive is that the eBeam is totally modular. It can work in a lightweight truck, in medium or even heavy-duty commercial vehicles with a large battery, a small battery or even in a hybrid vehicle. Magna calls this its “building block approach,” allowing OEMs to configure multiple drivetrain pieces together depending on the purpose of the truck.
