CAMI to become a GM electric truck plant

Last week, American car manufacturer General Motors announced that it would invest $787 million USD (almost $1 billion CND) into CAMI, its Ingersoll, Ontario-based plant to be retooled in order to begin the production of an all-electric delivery vehicle, the BrightDrop EV600 that was  unveiled during a Consumer Electronic Show presentation earlier this month. With financial help from the Canadian government, the production of the EV600 should begin at the CAMI plant next November.

The southern Ontario facility currently produces the small CUV Chevrolet Equinox. As far as we know, the production of this Chevy vehicle at the CAMI plant should be phased out in 2023.
