GM and Michelin Present Airless Wheel Tech
GM and Michelin presented the Michelin Uptis Prototype (or “Unique Puncture-proof Tire System) at the Movin’On summit in Montreal. The companies intend to introduce the technology on passenger vehicles in 2024. Real-world testing of the Uptis with the Bolt EV will start later this year.
Airless wheel technology eliminates flats, blowouts, and uneven wear from incorrect inflation. The result is the maximization the tire lifecycle with the upshot of less waste. Dangers from flats and blowouts, such as accidents, are also reduced.
