China Continues EV Sales Surge

Sales of EVs in China, already the world’s largest EV market, were estimated at 97,276 in April (up 34% year-over-year). The majority of sales were divided among 10 manufacturers with Chinese company BYD leading with 3 of the top 4 vehicles.

By comparison, EV sales in Canada were at 44,175 units for all of 2018, a healthy increase of 125%. There are currently 93,091 EVs on the road in Canada (see the full EMC report here.)
