Lion Unveils Its First Electric Truck

Lion , the Quebec school bus builder of the Saint-Jerome area north of Montreal has finally unveiled its first heavy duty all electric truck, the Lion8. Completely designed and built locally, the Lion8 is a cabover heavy duty truck with a GVWR of 54,600 lbs (24,700 kg) powered by a SUMO HV3500-9 Phases electric motor without a transmission. Its 480 kWh batteries provide a 400 km (250 mile) range while Level II and III charging can be done from 2.5 to 16 hours. The first truck will go to the Quebec liquor board (SAQ) as other deliveries should begin next fall. Lion has also promised the unveiling of a highway tractor version of the truck for next year.
