BMW and Microsoft Partner for Voice-Recognition

BMW and Microsoft have announced a partnership to improve in-car voice-recognition systems. It is the second partnership between the two companies in as many months. They announced a partnership for an Open Manufacturing Platform in April 2019.

This partnership aims to create an open-source platform for voice recognition and in-car commands. BMW uses Microsoft Azure to power its Intelligent Personal Assistant since March.

The companies hope the personal assistant will one day have the capability to handle numerous other tasks. E-mails, messages, and appointments are all areas an improved assistant could facilitate during a drive.
